Due to their close human resemblance, Hyatt Huntington realized the potential for primates to represent allegorical themes. These ring-tailed monkeys differ from her previous sculptures of affable, domesticated chimpanzees. Here, the artist depicts monkeys who act like humans to slyly poke fun at humans who act like monkeys. –JW
